GSS Connect – FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Why are we updating GSS Connect?

The vendor who hosts and supports the GSS Connect platform for us needed to make some updates to better support our organization in posting and maintaining content.

What is the main difference between the old GSS Connect and the new version?

The main difference employees will notice is that the layout is a little bit different. However, all resources and materials from the old GSS Connect have been transferred over. We have had several employees test out the new platform, and feedback has been very positive with many people saying it’s similar enough that it wasn’t hard to find what they were looking for.

If you are working from a Good Samaritan location, you will no longer be required to click on the GSS Connect “Login” button to access the intranet. The dashboard will automatically display when you access gssconnect.org. For any employees accessing GSS Connect from remote locations, you will still be required to click on the “Login” button. You will see a similar login page as before.

The dashboard menu layout is slightly different. A visual guide has also been provided to you via email so you can see the change that way.

Who can I talk to if I need technical help or can’t find a resource on GSS Connect?

If you need technical help with the new GSS Connect, or you can’t find a particular resource, please contact the helpdesk. You can do so by:

How do I search for documents on GSS Connect, and what are the limitations?

While we have heard from many employees that the search functionality needs to be improved on GSS Connect, that is not covered in phase one of this project. For now, search functionality will remain the same.

A few key tips to keep in mind when searching:

  • Searching is specific – If you spell something wrong, it will not pull up any results.
  • When you are searching, it is only going to pull keywords from the title or description of the document, not from the actual content in the document. This is why it’s very important to know at least one word included in the title of the document you are searching for. It is also important that those people who have access to upload content to GSS Connect to include accurate descriptions to assist with this.
  • Don’t limit yourself in the search. The less words you type in the search field, the more results you will get back i.e. if you are searching for a policy/form related to risk management just type risk in the search field and all policies/forms that have risk in the title will pull up.

Where can I find policies and procedures on the upgraded GSS Connect?

To locate your policies and procedures, all you have to do is click the icon on the left-hand side dashboard menu, instead of going to “My Resources” which was located on the old site menu bar at the top. You can also access these resources through the appropriate tile on the homepage.

A visual guide has also been provided to you via email so you can see the change depicted that way.

Where can I find my training on the upgraded GSS Connect?

You can access all of the training modules on the new site by using the training icon on the left-hand side of the dashboard menu. Instead of on the menu bar at the top of the screen like the old site had. A visual guide has also been provided to you via email so you can see the change that way.

Where can I find general resources that used to be under the “My Resources” tab on the old site?

All of the resources that fell under the “My Resources” tab in the top menu on the old site have now been pulled out as their own headers on the new GSS Connect on the left-hand menu. This includes the headers:

  • Policies and Procedures
  • Manuals, Guidelines, Frameworks
  • Forms
  • General
  • Accreditation Corner

You can also access these resources through the appropriate tile on the homepage.

A visual guide has also been provided to you via email so you can see the change that way.

Will how I access my pay information on GSS Connect change?

No, how you access your pay information will not change. You can still click on the IAS Employee Self Serve tile from the homepage. A visual guide has also been provided to you via email so you can see the change that way.

What browser should I be using to access GSS Connect?

Please use Google Chrome as this is the browser the organization is moving towards using as our default. It also allows the best functionality with GSS Connect. If you use a different browser, you may run into technical issues. If you have questions on how to access Google Chrome, please reach out to the help desk.

Will my login and password information need to change?

No, your login information will remain the same as it currently is. If you have any issues with logging in, please reach out to the helpdesk.

Do I need to put in a password or username to login to the update GSS Connect?

If you are logging in from a work computer that is on the Good Samaritan network, single site sign in is in place so you will not be required to enter a user name or password. However, if you are accessing GSS Connect from home or a personal computer, you will have to login using the same network username and password that you use to log into your work computer.

What do I do if I can’t remember my username or password?

Please reach out to the helpdesk and they will assist you with this:

  • Extension:  83820
  • Local dialling: 780-431-3820
  • Toll-free: 1-866-408-3820

Is the website address changing?

No, you will still access GSS Connect by going to gssconnect.org, and it will continue to be set as the default homepage when you open the internet.

When will the second phase of the GSS Connect upgrade happen, and what will it include?

Planning for phase two of the GSS Connect upgrade will begin in the coming months.  This portion of the plan will involve asking all employees for their feedback on what they want to see changed on GSS Connect, and how we can improve functionality.  Some areas that we are looking to improve upon in the second phase include search capability, accuracy of various reports (including training and percentage reports. Stay tuned for more information!
